This is a tool for separating an RGB image into two spot channels.
Depending on the input image and the chosen inks, it can give quite good results.
It's a work in progress and a little rough around the edges, so use it at your own discretion. It's not scientifically correct or based on real life measurements.
Instructions
- Upload an image by clicking the UPLOAD IMAGE button.
- Choose an ink by clicking a channel and then clicking a color swatch.
- Choose the paper type by clicking the COATED/UNCOATED switch.
- Download the separated image by clicking the DOWNLOAD SEPARATION button.
- Open the separated image in Photoshop and manually map the red and green channel to spot channels using the two chosen inks.
- Adjust channels as needed.
Tips and warnings
- Images must be .png or .jpg and is assumed to use sRGB profile.
- Transparency is not supported.
- Very large images might silently fail and get large empty areas.
- Choosing coated paper generally gives the best result.
- Metallic inks are not supported.
